Find Your Happy – Make Your Own Super Hero

Can you control your own destiny or is this only for the likes of super heroes? Is it possible you have super hero powers laying dormant inside your soul? What if I told you there is a way to light your soul on fire and harness the force inside.

You Are In The Drivers Seat

How to take control of your destiny is completely up to you. So what is the hold up? When choosing to do nothing, you have already made the final decision. Your personal destiny rests in your hands alone, and the amount of action you are willing to take is the only thing that will determine how your life turns out.

Taking An Inventory

One of the worst words in the English vocabulary is the word “just”. Although Websters still has this word listed in the big book of words, how about we remove the word JUST from our dialect from this point forward. At least when it comes to giving a description of who we are. When you use the word “just” in front of what you do (e.g., I am “just” a notary or I am just a mechanic) you are giving off a reflection of yourself to the entire world. Something you may not realize, this reflection shows a lack of self-confidence. Whether you are the CEO of a large company or a prep cook standing in a hot kitchen, what you do matters! Your contribution to society is making a difference in someones life. You are important. Period.

Mort than anything else, what you believe about yourself is the biggest factor in the journey your destiny will take. So no matter what you do, OWN IT and be the very best at it. Be proud of yourself. Applying this single strategy to your life will allow you to create your own magnet. This magnet will attract more success and happiness into your life giving you the green light to rewrite your autobiography. How about that?

Coffee Makes Me Happy

Especially with a little Keto Kreme. I look forward every single morning to drinking that first sip of coffee. Just thinking about it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. This is one of my go-to thoughts when my day starts to head south. Remember that magnet we just talked about? Well it can also attract a lot of ick just like it pulls in the good stuff. Why? Because it doesn’t know the difference between good and bad. It is just a magnet after all.

So you might be wondering where I am going with this. Well, it is important to understand that you are personally responsible for both the good and the bad that finds its way to your magnet. The key here is to know what to do when the bad shows up. It is super easy. All you have to do is reach for a happy thought. And you need to be prepared with that happy thought so when you are in traffic and someone cuts you off, you can get to that thought immediately! My happy place is my morning Keto Kreme. One of my best girl friends special thought is eating soft serve ice cream. I have a “sister from another mister” who’s happy place is a picture of a lake that she and her family vacations at each summer. The point here is, you must know what makes you happy so you know where to go when your magnet gets a little sideways.

So here is what we are going to do. We are going to make a list of 10-15 things that make us smile. Here are some of my own to give you an idea. A dragonfly buzzing around me, a brand new pair of fuzzy socks, coloring in my mandala adult coloring books, sitting around a campfire drinking a cup of hot chocolate, the smell of freshly cut grass (especially when it is my own yard), my grand daughters giggle, my fiance’s big bear hugs, & the downy fresh smell of my sheets at the end of a long day. But most of all its coffee. These are all simple pleasures and each one can pull me out of a funk almost immediately when I have identified that my magnet goes haywire. Think of your own list of things that feel good, make you smile, or smell amazing. Add these visions to the top shelf of your toolbox.

Be Someone Who Makes You Happy

You are solely responsible for your own happiness. You have to be who makes you happy. It isn’t up to your family, your spouse or significant other or your friends. Happiness is something that uniquely belongs to you and no one else. Let’s face it, spiders make some people happy, I’m not one of them.

They say that the person you are is a reflection of the five people you spend the most time with. Choose your inner circle wisely my friends. “Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.” – Oprah Winfrey. My grandmother had this really odd saying, “a chippy chaser ain’t no better than the chippy he is a chasing”. I always wondered what she meant by that when I was younger. But now I get it!

Research shows that it takes three happy thoughts to counter act one negative thought. Psychologist Barbara Fredrickson calls this the Happiness Ratio. This research also suggests that how often you think and feel happy trumps how intense the feeling is. That means that eating an ice cream cone could be more beneficial to your over all emotional well being than a trip to Hawaii. Now whether that is good for your waistline, remains to be seen.

The Verdict Is In…

So in summary, your happiness is the vehicle that will drive you to your destiny. Maybe that’s why the call it a destination? Who knows. It is critical to find what makes you feel good, than take that feeling and use it as much as possible. Once you start feeling the benefits of this, nothing will be able to stop you from reaching your highest aspirations.

  1. Coffee your on the same length as me. Consideration is a huge thing and I feel that people let them take ahold of their lives. I definitely get your “Just” comment. And we all get caught in it. I have several times. Now I wake up every morning and with 2 little ones close in age I decided one morning to wake up and instead of being tired from having only 4 hours sleep I would say I feel rested and lets get a coffee and start my day.

Great blog. Great content. Really pleasurable to read
